Vehicle Integration Module (VIM):
The VIM was designed by EnergyCS to provide comprehensive vehicle control and data management. The VIM replaces the ECM in a traditional vehicle and is responsible for such things as drive by wire, climate control, ABS, Traction control, instrumentation, and data management. The system is also capable of providing wireless data acquisition, GPS monitoring, and real time reporting. The VIM is currently utilized in multiple platforms and can be easily adapted to meet the needs of new projects.
The tasks of integration of power and interface with the vehicle and operator are fulfilled by the VIM. The VIM receives information from the battery management system and translates the thousands of signals per second into the unique information format required by the vehicle.
In a conventional vehicle, devices such as the Engine Control Module (ECM) and Powertrain Control Module (PCM) manage the various components. In an electric vehicle, the EnergyCS VIM performs the equivalent functions normally executed by the ECM. In a hybrid vehicle, the VIM manages power output from both electric and internal combustion sources, electric accessory drives (power steering, air conditioning, etc.), sensor and control inputs and outputs.
